FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is this a new church?
Yes, we officially incorporated on March 9th, 2018.
What kind of church is this? Is it part of a denomination?
We are a non-denominational independent church but are partnering with other like-minded churches in the mid-Atlantic states.
What are your Sunday morning worship services like?
We're very casual. Feel free to wear whatever clothes you like. We set up tables to sit at rather than having chairs in a row to give a more comfortable feeling, allow for discussion and to have a place for your coffee! It's not a standard three songs and a 40-minute sermon type of church. Instead the format is more interactive as we dig into the Bible in a way that makes sense and talk about real-life applications right then at your table and as a group. We also regularly have lunch immediately following to get to know each other better and strengthen our relationships.
I'm not very religious and don't have a Bible. Is that okay?
Absolutely! We're not religious, either, in the sense of keeping a list of do's and don't's. Instead, we refer to ourselves as faithful (hence, our name! Faith Community Church) as we seek to deepen our relationships with God and each other. In fact, we're geared towards people who are hungry to know more but don't know quite where to start. We all have to start somewhere, so Faith Community Church is a great place to begin. And we'll get you set up with a Bible as our gift and get you started on the life-long journey of immersing yourself in it and growing in your faith through it.
Since this is a new church, do you have a band? Children's ministries? Youth group?
These are all things that we are moving towards and are adding as God provides the pieces. We already have some aspects of each of these ministries in place but are definitely praying for more people to get involved in all of these areas. We would love to meet you and plug you in as the Lord has gifted and experienced you.
Do you have your own building yet?
Yes, in a way. God has blessed us to be partnering with Community United Methodist Church and meeting at 1601 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070. We do not own the building, though.
Aren't there enough churches on the West Shore already?
There are other good churches in the area, but it’s important to understand that each church will typically reach only a certain demographic of people. A recent study showed that more than 60% of the population of York County, PA said that they have no religious affiliation at all. More than 60%!! Our church is geared towards helping everyone to grow in their faith, from the mature Christian to someone that has never opened a Bible before in their life. How? By going through life together, helping each other grow in our faith and creating healthy followers of Jesus Christ who create more healthy followers of Jesus Christ.
What else do you have going on besides the Sunday morning worship service?
We feel the mark of a healthy church is what's going on in the life of the church through the whole of the week and not just on Sundays. We have Fitnistry, small groups, regular service projects that we do during our quarterly "Serve the Shore" Sundays, a youth group and other focus and support groups planned as the Lord brings more people.
